Nice microsite for the new VW Night driving campaign. You can watch the beautiful tv ad, switch to some additional camera angles or even recut the footage and make your own commercial.
“Somewhere betwenn 3 and 4am. Night time. The best time to drive. The air flows frehs anfd coool through your open window. All lights seem green, the road is yours.”

Devoid of Yesterday is a new non-commercial short film collective by The Ronin, Dstrukt and Hecq.
“Devoid is an arts based collective specializing in the creation of personal short film projects and not for profit commissions. Although consisting of motion directors Chiu and Hewitt, Devoid’s work is about as far removed from the world of commercial motion design as you can possibly get. Together with Boysen the trio are plotting out new territory that is constantly changing with the emotions and experiences gained from the friendship that binds the three together. Devoid of Yesterday creates dark twisted narratives with flickers of hope that reflect the human nature of the artists.”
YouTube VideoMixer lets you remix your own Video and Images as well as material from youTube - well done Flex/Flash9-App with a rather functional interface and good flv-export.
Surprisingly, the new Mobile (Handy) Version of YouTube comes in dark grey and features not flv but streaming .3gp Videos (besides a slimmed down interface)
I just came across some interesting video community websites that might be a nice addition to the ones listed by Simon here:

Stage6 can briefly be described as a hi-resolution youTube-c using divx-files instead of flvs that can easily be downloaded.

Joox is a supporting bookmarking service/website for Stage6-Videos.
French Animation collective Bif together wit The Mill created an amazing short film. Raymond is beatiful combination of Real Action Video and Animation. Every aspect from the storyline, visual appeal to editing is just immaculate!
Many people are thinking about promoting their independently shot movie over the Internet…here’s the first story of success: FOUR EYED MONSTERS !
Directing couple Susan Buice and Arin Crumley pulled off every community driven internet marketing tool available: Myspace, YouTube, Podcast, VideoPodCasts, Facebook, Soundtrack, selling DVD’s, selling HighQualityDownloads, Flickr, Twitter, del.icoi.us… They asked people to set up screenings of the movie in their town, cinemas could request a screening…
But how came the breakthrough?
They pulled off a deal with an american movie community site, which pays them a buck for every new subscriber they bring in. This great idea was combined with a YouTube Front Page Feature of the film - and BOOM! 333.000 thousand plays until now and 18.000 bucks through subscriptions, and I think this is just the beginning.
One small detail to consider if you wanna do the same: The film is amazing, watch it!
You have a big company and loads of tv commercials on the shelf? Do it like Saab and integrate them into a firm-history website. The important point is to have an intelligent integration of the video content into the website…Saab did it.
Justin Schrader’s website was linked at the FWA some days ago. On his site I stumbled upon a small motion graphics peace you should check out.
What I liked about it, is the clever integration of 3D-material into the LiveAction-Video. The effects feel very natural and motivated by the material.
DEFASTEN does very abstract digital animations. His works have an unique and intriguing atmosphere and great sound design. I think mosst compelling about the pieces is their changing dynamic - calm and hectic scenes take turn to create very symbolic visual metaphors.
“DEFASTEN believes in remodernist ideals and the nihilist difference of our alleged unified society. In the future, the alphabet does not exist. Focusing on digital animation, DEFASTEN delineates parallels within information, space, and the urban landscape at the intersection of digital media practices. This direction reflects an interest in the fragmentation of media, contemporary society, and the post-modern condition.”
Very slick concept for an agency site from german based Neteye.
The projects are floating around in an interactive 3d space, detailed case studies are presented as a showreel.
